Homeschool State Funding
Elephango is an approved expense in several states! State funding for homeschoolers varies widely across the United States. Some states offer no funding, while others provide limited financial assistance for specific educational expenses.

Alaska
Alaska sets aside an annual allotment of funds for students, including homeschoolers enrolled in one of the state-funded correspondence schools. Families who homeschool in Alaska are eligible for school funding if they enroll through correspondence schools. Elephango is an approved expense when families enroll with IDEA and Raven Homeschool.
The application process varies for each school. A directory of all correspondence schools are found here.
Typically, families pay for their subscription and submit it for reimbursement, but please verify the process with your correspondence school before purchasing. If you are a part of a different correspondence school, please check with your administrator to see if Elephango would be an eligible provider.
Arizona
Families who homeschool in Arizona and are approved for the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) can use their funds on Elephango!
If you homeschool in Arizona, you can apply for the Empowerment Scholarship Account(ESA) to receive state funding for homeschooling expenses. The application for Arizona ESA is online and can be found here. Applications are processed year-round and can take up to 30 days to process, and funding is awarded quarterly.

Arkansas
Homeschooling families must first set up an account within the online portal. Then, complete the application process by providing the correct information and documentation. The online portal can be found at efa.ade.arkansas.gov. Families can learn more about the program and requirements by checking the Education Freedom Account website.
The Arkansas Children’s Educational Freedom Account Program uses an online marketplace to purchase services from approved vendors. Follow these steps to use your funding on your Elephango subscription.
- Once you have set up your account, you’ll log in and see your Account Dashboard. Click on the red tile that says “Marketplace”.
- A pop-up box will appear, asking you for your Hope Scholarship account password to activate TheoPay.
- Browse or search for Elephango.
- Select your subscription.
- Follow the prompts to complete your transaction.
California
California families can opt to homeschool through a public charter school. These charter schools are part of the public education system but are independently operated and managed. Those who enroll through one of the public charter schools could receive funding to purchase curriculum or other educational resources. Elephango is an approved vendor with the following charter schools:
- Excel Academy
- Hartland Charter School
- IEM (Oak Grove, Sky Mountain, South Sutter)
- Mission Vista Academy
- River Springs Charter
The application process varies for each school. Search through the directory of charter schools here.
Because not all charter schools follow the same process, please ask your charter school how you can use your funds. If your school is not listed, check with your administrator, as you can still purchase our products.
Florida
Several scholarships are available to Florida homeschooling families through the Step Up For Students program. Elephango is an approved vendor with the Step Up For Students Scholarship.
You will first need to create a guardian account in the EMS platform. Detailed instructions can be found here. Then review the various available scholarships and the eligibility requirements to find the one that best suits your family’s needs. Once your account is created, you can select which scholarship you wish to apply for from your EMA dashboard. Detailed instructions can be found here.
Once you create an account and receive a scholarship, you can purchase by visiting Step Up’s MyScholarShop.
- Log into your EMA account. Select the marketplace tab and click on the MyScholarShop option.
- Select the student account for which you are purchasing.
- Search for Elephango and add it to your cart.
- Submit your order.
Idaho
Idaho families with students aged 5-18 can benefit from the Empowering Parents program. Elephango is an approved vendor for funds.
Parents and guardians can apply for an award by filling out the application online. For step-by-step instructions on how to apply, watch this video. Once an application has been submitted and eligibility confirmed, the awards will be made. Funds will be deposited electronically into the parent or guardian Empowering Parents account.
Once you’ve been approved for funds with the Empowering Parents program, you’ll use Odyssey to make your purchase.
- Log into your Odyssey account.
- Search Elephango using the search tool in the top right corner.
- Add your subscription to your cart and follow the prompts to select your student.
- Select checkout and submit your order.
Indiana
Funds are directly deposited into each student’s account quarterly. You will first need to take a screenshot of the “Get Started” page on Elephango.com.
Then log into your ClassWallet account and follow the instructions in this video.
Maine
The Maine Children’s Scholarship Fund allows families to be reimbursed for homeschool materials. Elephango is an eligible homeschool material that can be submitted for reimbursement.
You can apply online or by downloading and mailing an application. There are income eligibility guidelines. We recommend that you review them before applying. You can find both the income eligibility guidelines and the applications here.
Families may be partially reimbursed for textbooks and other learning materials, enrollment costs for single academic courses, or other costs directly attributable to the cost of home education of the child who is the recipient of the scholarship. Original receipts must be submitted. MCSF reserves the right to determine which expenses are reimbursable
Montana
The Montana State Superintendent awards certain students with special needs accounts that are loaded twice per year with funds for qualified educational and therapeutic uses. Elephango is a qualifying expense for families who are awarded these funds.
You can find the application link on this website. Paper applications are available upon request. The following information is required to apply: student/Parent/Guardian Names, Student birthdate, Student State Identification Number (available from the resident school district), Contact Information, IDEA designation with documentation, Resident School District name, and any prior districts attended.
Families will work directly with the OPI for reimbursement of eligible expenses. The money will be reimbursed to parents after the successful submission of eligible expense receipts. Parents may request reimbursement monthly.
New Hampshire
Families in New Hampshire can benefit from the Education Freedom Account Scholarship. The funds awarded from this scholarship can be used on Elephango!
Complete the online application and upload applicable proof of income. Sign the Guardians Attest and Certify Statement. Applicants will be notified via email whether they have qualified for the scholarship.

North Carolina
The Education Student Account (ESA+) program can provide funds for North Carolina families to help families meet the educational needs of students with disabilities.
Parents or guardians will need to create a MyPortal account. Add student(s) to your MyPortal parent account and complete your application(s). Detailed instructions on how to set up an account and complete the application are located here.
Products and services must be purchased through the ClassWallet platform. First, take a screenshot of the “Get Started” page on Elephango.com. Then, log into your ClassWallet account and follow the instructions in this video.
Utah
The Utah Fits All Scholarship program allows homeschooling families to use scholarship funds for education expenses and services, including an Elephango subscription.
ACE Scholarships was selected by the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) to run and manage the program. You can complete the online application here. You can review the Family Handbook for more about the requirements, eligibility, and how funds are awarded.

West Virginia
West Virginia’s Hope Scholarship allows families to choose educational programs and products that fit their student’s needs. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, homeschool curriculum, and other qualifying expenses, like an Elephango subscription.
To apply for the Hope Scholarship Program, the Account Holder must set up a profile and Account in the online Hope Scholarship portal. Before applying, families should review the Parent Handbook. Applications and additional eligibility information can be found on the Hope Scholarship website.
The West Virginia Hope Scholarship uses Theopay to purchase products from approved vendors. Follow these steps to purchase Discover! curriculum:
- Once you have set up your account, you’ll log in and see your Account Dashboard. Click on the yellow tile that says “TheoPay”.
- A pop-up box will appear, asking you for your Hope Scholarship account password to activate TheoPay.
- Navigate to elephango.com
- Add items to your cart as normal
- When ready to check out, activate the TheoPay extension
- Click “Scan Cart” to check item eligibility
- Review the results and remove any ineligible items if necessary. Once all items are displayed as approved by the Hope Scholarship Program, click “Submit” to process the order. DO NOT CHECK OUT ON THE WEBSITE USING YOUR OWN PAYMENT INFORMATION.
- To complete your TheoPay order, simply click the “Close” button. Your job is complete, and the Hope Scholarship Program will fulfill your order.
