Inches

Inches are the smallest measurement and are used for small objects, like toys or action figures.

A yard equals 3 feet or 36 inches. It's perfect for bigger areas, like soccer fields or backyards.

Converting Inches to Feet

Start with inches to feet.

There are 12 inches in a foot, so to convert inches to feet, divide by 12.

To find out, divide the total number of inches by 12.

24 inches ÷ 12 = 2 feet!

Imagine you just got a 48-inch desk for your room.

  • How many feet long is the desk?

Remember, divide the total number of inches by 12.

48 inches ÷ 12 = 4 feet!

Switch it up and convert feet to yards.

There are 3 feet in 1 yard, so to convert feet to yards, divide by 3.

15 ÷ 3 = 5 yards!
