  • Do you agree?
  • Is broccoli yummy or gross?

No matter how you answered that question, you were right!

Different people feel different ways about broccoli. Some think it's delicious, and some don't like it.

These are opinions, so they aren't right or wrong.

Keep reading to learn more about different views and even share your own opinions!

We have thoughts about lots of things!

  • But what are opinions?

An opinion is what you think or feel about something.

For example, an opinion would be if you think puppies are the cutest animals or like chocolate ice cream more than vanilla.

An opinion isn’t right or wrong; it’s just what you think. If you like chocolate ice cream and someone else likes vanilla, neither of you is wrong.

You just have different opinions!

Knowing the difference between an opinion and a fact is important.

A fact is something that is always true, and you can prove it.

For example, an apple is a fruit. That’s a fact! You can look it up in a book or online and find out that an apple is a fruit.

  • But if you say that apples are the yummiest fruit, can you prove that?

No! It’s just what you think. Someone else might think differently.

That means it’s an opinion.
