What Is PowerPoint?

PowerPoint is a tool on your computer that helps you make slides.

Each slide can have words, pictures, and colors. It’s kind of like building a page in a book, one by one!

Step 1: Open PowerPoint

Find the orange “P” icon on your computer. Click it to open PowerPoint.

Step 2: Pick a Theme

PowerPoint lets you pick a “theme.” A theme gives all your slides the same background and style.

Click the one you like best!

Step 3: Add a Slide

Click the “New Slide” button. That gives you a blank slide to work on.

Step 4: Add Words

Click inside the big box on your slide. You can type your name, a title, or a sentence.

You can also change the size or color of the words if you want!

Step 5: Add Pictures

Click “Insert” at the top, then “Pictures.”

You can add a picture from your computer or choose one PowerPoint gives you. You can even draw your own!

Step 6: Add Fun Stuff

  • Want to make your slide really fun?

Try clicking on “Animations.” That can make your pictures or words move!

Step 7: Show Your Slides

Click “Slide Show” and then “From Beginning” to watch your show. Click the arrow to go to the next slide.

That’s it!

You’re learning to be a PowerPoint pro.

Now, try some practice to help you remember all the steps in the Got It? section.
